about

This song tells the true story of Rosa’s mother’s mother’s mother, Katrina Fhager. Her surname is an old-fashioned Swedish word for ‘Beautiful’. A mother of five, she died of blood-poisoning aged 34. The guitar played on this track once belonged to her, and is roughly 100 years old. The backing vocals are all sung by her descendants: A recording of her late daughter Judith (Rosa’s grandmother) starts and finished the track, and the other vocals are sung by her granddaughter Kärstin Lyons (Rosa’s mother), her great granddaughters Sara Lyons (Rosa’s sister) and Ulrika Karlsson (Rosa’s cousin), and finally by her great great granddaughter Elsa Folkeson Lyons (Rosa’s niece)
